This year the girl’s basketball team is coached by Ralph Cleaver and Sabrina Flowers. Flowers has helped in the past, but this is Cleaver’s first season. The managers of the team are sophomore Vanessa Salazar and junior Loyda Herrera.

The varsity girls basketball team has 10 girls on the team, with a majority of them being underclassmen.

“The team is mostly  young girls, but I enjoy playing with them in every game,” sophomore Katherine Moore said.

The team played its first game against Currituck Nov. 24., They lost 40-48. Following this loss, the team had back to back wins; one against Perquimans and the other against county rival First Flight High School. The FFHS win came in overtime with a score of 55-50.

“The game against First Flight was so exciting and fun,” sophomore Josie Fry said. “I loved to see all the fans supporting us on our big win.”
