Thirty five boys and 15 girls make up this year’s track team. Coaches Mike Twigg and Melissa Hand are excited for the group of runners. 

“The season has been good so far,” Twigg said. “We have had athletes working hard to improve in their events and to learn some new events that they haven’t [done before].”

The team’s first meet was at home. They competed against First Flight, Perquimans, Camden and Cape Hatteras and placed third.

Members of the team quickly bonded, which has helped members reach new heights and break personal records.  

“I feel that our team is a big family,” sophomore Donovan Twyne said. “We push each other to our full potential which is why we are doing well this season.”

At this point in the season, the regional qualifiers are seniors Erica Stone, Matthew Fenz and Jazz Hanson.
