The softball team is once again coached by Tara Buckley. Sophomores and juniors make up the majority of the team. The only senior playing this year is Meredith Booth, and Kathy Davis joined the team as the only freshman.

“Softball is great,” Booth said. “I am sad it’s my last year, but I’m ready for a great year and to continue my softball career.”

The team practices everyday after school to be prepared for its games. The team played its first game at home against Perquimans. They lost 8-2, but they didn’t walk away from it discouraged. They turned around from this loss and beat First Flight 15-10.

“It’s been a great season, and I think we will go far this year, the team is more like a family,” junior Kaley Gallop said.

The coaches are proud of all the team and look forward to a great season.

“I am a firm believer that we should focus on things we can control like attitude and effort. This is what makes our team so special.” Buckley said. “They give their all, have fun and win!
