The English department’s second annual spelling bee was held Monday, April 13. Team Daaaaaniels, which included juniors Colby Allen, Fletcher Casey, Wallace Casey and Daniel Mitchum, won on the word “vicissitude.”

“Of course I knew the Daaaaniels would win from the start,” Allen said. “Our team was stacked, and every team saw that once we reached 31 consecutive right words in a row,”

Ten teams participated, one teacher team and nine student teams.

“The word list consisted of tiered SAT-level words and a variety of words submitted by several content area teachers. Our goal was to host an event that  would be both challenging and fun for students. Were we successful? You better BEE-lieve it,” English teacher Kassie Mount said.
